Grey Peel Rambo HMF1000004 was 9th at the Great Yorkshire 2011, 1st at Kelso Show and Champion at the Kelso Ram Sales, Grey Peel Rocket HMF1000009 was 4th at the Great Yorkshire Show 2011 and 2nd at Kelso Show.
It is hoped that further show achievements will be made building upon the recent successes.
Something that Grey Peel Texels believes is important and to demonstrate the commercial requirement that has to be met by terminal sire producers Grey Peel Texels have won three prime lamb championships (2007, 2009 & 2010, no entry made in 2008 or 2011) at John Swan’s Auction Mart, St. Boswells.
In producing prime lambs at Grey Peel home bred high index tup lambs are used on the few Cross Texel ewes when they are not being used for ET work. A maximum of only 40/50 prime lambs are produced in a year when no ET work is being done from the Cross Texel recipient ewes to select from for these championships. As an example in 2010 only 8 prime cross texel lambs were available at the time out of only 16, as the other 8 were later born, to select the 5 lambs that won the 2010 Summer Show and Sale at John Swan’s.
